Well this is the first post for the newly formed local conservation action group' Friends of the Hythe'.
Hopefully I will be able to blog regularly on the progress of the group and conservation activities at the Hythe Lagoons and Marshes just south of the Hythe and New Town area of Colchester.
I intend to blog on nature sightings in the area, upcoming events, the progress of our sponsored cycing birdathon to raise money for a bird hide on site and also for Headway Colchester and any other things relevant to the group and the local area and it's wildlife.

Friends of the Hythe
A non-profit organization whose intention is to assist the current management of the Hythe Lagoons and Marshes to the South of Colchester by the River Colne, Essex, UK. We wish to link with other small groups in the area such as The Moors Group to help maintain the green spaces/wildlife corridors in the town. Moreover, we wish to raise money to place a birdhide on site (with council permission), make habitat improvements (by working with the council, local interest groups and businesses, as well as local and national wildlife groups) to gradually provide a greater diversity of habitats for local fauna and flora, while providing educational boards, guided walks and other educational facilities, conservation work parties, voluntary wardens and eventually a sluice system to further help with the restoration of the habitat.
